Why A Remote Radiator
Taking the radiator away from the engine gives a quieter and cooler engine room, frees the plant layout and lets the radiator stand where the air is clean and cool. The fans are electric, so their speed can follow the load.
Remote radiators
A remote radiator cools an engine from a separate position: it stands outside the engine room, on a roof or next to the container, and its electric fans run independently of the engine. TECS designs and builds horizontal and vertical remote radiators for generator sets, engine power plants, CHP plants and data center back-up power.
Every unit is sized for its own duty, site ambient, altitude and sound limit.

Horizontal units carry the coil flat with the fans above or below it and suit open sites, roofs and power plants. Vertical units stand upright and move the air horizontally, so they fit against a wall, a louvre or a duct.
A single-circuit unit cools one jacket water loop. An LT/HT unit carries the low- and high-temperature circuits of the engine in one casing, with separate headers and connections.
Copper tube with aluminium fin is standard. For coastal, offshore, desert and dusty sites the fins are AlMg2.5 or epoxy coated and the casing is galvanised or painted to the corrosion category of the site. Hot ambients and high altitudes are part of the design, not a correction afterwards.
An engine-mounted radiator has a fan driven by the engine and sits on the same base frame. A remote radiator stands apart from the engine and has its own electric fans.
The distance is set by the pipework pressure drop the engine pump can accept and by the venting of the circuit. It is checked for each installation.
Horizontal units suit open sites and roofs; vertical units suit walls, louvres and ducts. The plot, the air path and the sound limit decide.
The heat to be rejected or the engine model, the coolant and its glycol content, the flow rate or the inlet and outlet temperatures, the design ambient temperature and altitude, the sound limit with its distance, and any space limit. An engine manufacturer's datasheet covers most of it.
Send us the heat duty, the fluid temperatures and flow rates, the ambient conditions and the installation limits. We answer with a design proposal - or write to us on WhatsApp.
